Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Ovoid glass vase, slightly wider at the shoulders and with an attached clear glass blue-tinted rim around the opening in the top. The main body of the vase is made up of pentagonals of clear glass, each with distorted, radiating white stripes, partly tinted purple or blue. This has achieved by picking up sections of prepared pentagonal canes with a stripy pattern, on a clear glass bubble which is then re-heated and 'marvered' (made smooth by repeatedly rolling over a smooth surface while hot) and expanded by blowing. The base has been ground flat.

Maibritt Jönsson and Pete Hunner work together at Baltic Sea Glass creating beautiful contemporary glassware. This vase is made from sections of prepared canes with an internal stripy pattern. The sections are heated up and fused onto a clear glass bubble. This is made smooth by rolling it repeatedly over a smooth surface while hot. It is then expanded by blowing.
