Comelli (1858-1925) was the house designer of the Royal Opera House from the late 1880s to the early 1920s. During this period he also worked for the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane and Daly's Theatre and also designed costumes from a number of Gilbert&Sullivan productions.

Physical description
Costume design possibly of Mr Treer as an Egyptian officer in Act I of Cleopatra at Daly's Theatre. The design shows a full length image of an Egyptian officer wearing a white and red tunic under gold and silver armour protecting the back and chest. A sword is fastened at the waist with a red scarf and on his head the officer wears a red, gold and black helmet with serpent detailing. On his arms he wears silver and gold bracelets matching the armour and on his feet, red, back and brown sandals.
