Fairy Scene Kit

Kit
2010 (designed), 2010 (manufactured)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

The Fairy Scene Kit was inspired by some of the paper theatres and models in the Museum of Childhood collection. In 2009, the Australian-based designer Nicholas Danilevsky visited the Museum and was so inspired by some of the toy theatres that he developed his own. The scene kit is made from pre-cut card pieces, which can be coloured in, painted, and decorated. It is aimed at children aged between 3 - 8 years so it is simple to assemble using the slot-together pieces. The scenes show trees, flowers, bees, and fairies and are positioned in such a way to create depth. This kind of activity kit is good for encouraging creativity and imagination in young children.
