This design is one of a collection of designs and books (S.811 to S.817-1997) bequeathed to the Theatre Museum by the theatre historian, Sybil Rosenfeld (1903-1997). Miss Rosenfeld was joint editor of Theatre Notebook for over forty years and was a founder member of the Society for Theatre Research. The design for Madame was bought from the Wright Hepburn Gallery (there was a gallery label on the back of the original frame). Associated production: The Pastime of Monsieur Robert. Playwright: Howard Sackler. Designer: Berkeley Sutcliffe. Director: Philip Grout. Actor: Nicolette Bernard. Hampstead Theatre Club, London, 7.2.1966. Performance category: Drama. Nicolette Bernard played the role of Madame in this production.
