Costumes purchased at the Royal National Theatre charity auction in 1996, or donated by the National Theatre prior to the auction: S.742 - S.810-1997, S.822 - S.824:2-1997. This object was originally part of Lot no.35 in the auction of costumes from the Royal National Theatre Archive, which took place at Sotheby's Main Galleries, New Bond Street, on 18 December 1996. This Lot was withdrawn from sale and the costumes were donated to the Theatre Museum. Wearer and actor: Laurence Olivier.
