Object history
This is one of 96 letters (S.741 to S.836-1996) given to the Museum by the actress, Joan White (b.1901). She made her first appearance on the London stage in 1931 and in the course of a career spanning six decades worked with many of the major names of twentieth-century theatre, both in London and with such companies as the Birmingham Repertory Theatre and the Bristol Old Vic. In 1956 she moved to Canada and thence to the United States, where she directed and managed a number of theatres. She returned to England in 1987. The letters are from her theatrical contacts and cover her career from the 1930s to the 1990s. Associated production: Recipient and actor: Joan White.
