Kevin Cummins is one of the premier rock photographers. He began photographing rock bands in 1970s Manchester, capturing many major musicians. He was one of the founding contributors to The Face before spending 10 years as chief photographer of the NME, helping to pioneer and define, through his imagery, the Madchester scene and the Cool Britannia period that followed. In 2009 he was awarded an Outstanding Contribution to Music Photography award by the music industry website Record of the Day.
