Costume design by Comelli marked 'Miss Rogers'. The character and production are not identified but the play is likely to have taken place at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in circa 1920.

Comelli (1858-1925) was the house designer of the Royal Opera House from the late 1880s to the early 1920s. During this period he also worked for the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane and also designed costumes from a number of Gilbert&Sullivan productions.

This design comes from a collection of costume designs (some of which are costumier's copies) which were originally part of the Archives of the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.

Physical description
Costume design by Comelli labelled 'Miss Rogers'. The character and production are not identified but the play is likely to have taken place at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in circa 1920. It shows a full length image of a young woman dressed in a full length white dress decorated with small silver motifs. The skirt has a scalloped hem and is made up of two layers, the top skirt reaching to just below the knee and the base skirt finishing just above the ankle. Her shoulders are bare as the short, puff sleeves of the dress begin just at the base of her shoulders and finish part way down her upper arm. The bodice finishes just below the bust in a silver/pale grey ribbon and a hanging bead necklace stretches across her shoulders and across her bodice ending in two weighted tassled knots. A similar section of scalloped beading runs around the hem of the upper skirt. She also wears elbow length white gloves and a white floral headdress with a long veil reaching down her back to a point just beyond the base of the upper skirt. The design is not signed or dated.
