Object history
Originally part of the collection of memorabilia owned by Mahala (Marie Girdlestone), since Arthur Nelstone - playing the cow - was her father. He became better known as a Musical Comedy eccentric dancer and comedian. (See also S.888-1997). Associated Production: Jack and the Beanstalk. Original author: Augustus Harris. Arthur Nelstone, a Musical comedy eccentric dancer who married a Gaiety Girl, was the father of Mahala (Marie Girdlestone) who appeared in his act as Mahala and Co. The poster notes that this was originally produced at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London.
