This poster advertises Mr J.L.Toole as Chawes in A Fool and his Money.
John Lawrence Toole (1832-1906) was the protagonist Chawles in H.J. Byron's serio-comic drama A Fool and his Money, which Toole first produced and performed in at the Globe Theatre, London, 17 January 1878. Toole chose this play to open his management of the Folly Theatre, 17 November 1879, eventually re-named Toole's Theatre and owned by him until it was demolished in 1895.

Poster advertising Mr J.L. Toole (1832-1906) as Chawles, his role in H.J. Byron's play A Fool and His Money. Probably used by Toole when performing the role on tour, c.1879.
Physical description
Pictorial. A monotone lithograph which shows Chawles peering over a screen or jury box, his whiskered face, high collar and crevat, and hands the only visible part of him. The area in the middle of the poster was possibly intended for overpasting details of specific venues.
