Poster advertising Aladdin at Pavilion Theatre, Bournemouth, 1962.

Female principal boys are traditional in British pantomime, as this poster image of a leggy Aladdin shows, but in this performance, pop singer Adam Faith took on the role. Faith was one of the country’s biggest teen idols, and a rival to Cliff Richard. He was also a star attraction for Emile Littler, the theatrical impresario who specialised in spectacular musicals and pantomimes.
