Performance category: rock and pop. The performers are recorded in the order that they headlined with the top band first.Golden Earring, a Dutch band, were a one-hit wonder with 'Radar Love'. Lynyrd Skynyrd, on the other hand, are thought of as one of the hierarchy in rock music history. They are from Jacksonville, Florida and were part of the southern rock scene which included Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, ZZ Top, Charlie Daniels Band, etc. Ronnie van Zant, the lead, wrote such classics as 'Free Bird', 'Gimme Three Steps' and 'Sweet Home Alabama'. He died in an aeroplane crash in about 1978. Tickets were GBP1.70, 1.40, 1.10 and 0.90. |
