This vase was made in the kilns in Shiwan, Guangdong province, southern China. Shiwan wares usually have a stoneware rather than a porcelain body. Their glazes are often in imitation of stonewares from the Song dynasty (960-1279). This vase is an attempt to copy Jun ware, one of the classic Song dynasty ceramics.
