Buckle
1800-1870 (made)
Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
This delicate little buckle was described as 17th century German when it was acquired by the Museum in 1872. This may be so, but it is more likely that it is Swiss work of the 19th century, when fine enamelled filigree of this kind was produced in urban centres such as Zurich, as much for tourists as for the Swiss themselves.
