Associated Production: Barnaby Rudge (20.12.1841, playwright: G.H. Rodwell. The first dramatisations of Charles Dickens' Barnaby Rudge had appeared at the English Opera House in June 1841, and at the Strand in August 1841. By the time that this version reached the stage, the novel had been issued in its entirety), The Little Old Woman and Her Pig (24.12.1841, this pantomime included a 'magnificent water scene', made possible because the Adelphi had a water tank installed under the stage floor). Director: Jack Minster. Designer: Oliver Smith. Actors: Beatrice Lillie, Florence Desmond. Theatre Royal, Adelphi, London. Performance category: drama.
