Bequeathed by Katharina Theophila Leonie Castelliz, granddaughter of the artist, the Austrian architect Niemann.

Historical significance: Adalia was the old name of Antalya. The monumental Gate, of which this drawing is a reconstruction, now much weathered but still standing, was erected to commemorate a visit by the Emperor Hadrian in A.D. 30.
