Gallery rotation, 2020 POSTER FOR THE WHO’S TOMMY 1969 The Who toured their rock-opera Tommy in 1969, playing six nights at New York’s Fillmore East. The story of the pinball wizard was largely based on the teachings of Pete Townshend’s spiritual advisor Meher Baba, and subsequently lived on as a Broadway musical and a feature film. This poster uses bold typography, typical of rock posters of the era. Designed by David Byrd Printing ink on paper Museum no. S.459-1984(2020)
