La Fille Soldat was a Ballet Pantomime in three acts by Blache Père et Fils. Jean-Baptiste Blache de Beaufort (17 May 1765 - 24 January 1834) was a German ballet dancer and ballet master active in France. His eldest son, Frédéric-Auguste Blache (1791- ?) revived his father's work at the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin from 1816 to 1823. It was performed at the Porte St Martin in circa 1818.

This design appears to be part of a series of prints published by Martinet, Rue du Coq, of which this example is labelled as number 464. It is part of the Harry Beard Collection.

Physical description
This full length coloured engraving shows a man and a woman. The man is dressed in a blue jacket trimmed with gold braid at the cuffs and centre front with matching blue knee breeches and waistcoat. The scabbard for his sword hangs from a sash across his shoulders and he wears a black, bicorne hat which, like his jacket, is decorated with a spray of white flowers. He is leaning forward, sword drawn in his right hand, whilst behind him stands the small figure of a woman, who is grasping his left hand. She is dressed in a green skirted gown with a red bodice, over which she wears a white apron. Her wide brimmed straw hat is decorated with a spray of red flowers.
