Les Intrigues de la Rapée was a vaudeville production by Sewrin, Dumersan and Merle. It was written and first performed in circa 1813.

This design appears to be part of a series of prints published by Martinet, Rue du Coq, of which this example is labelled as number 422. It is part of the Harry Beard Collection.

Physical description
This full length coloured engraving shows two men confronting one another. The man on the left has his back to the viewer and is dressed in a cutaway black coat and tight white knee breeches with pale pink gaiters and blue flocked stockings. That on the right faces forward and is dressed in a military uniform, consisting of a short white jacket with gold braid at the shoulders and centre front worn over loose white knee breeches and with a pair of black Hessian boots. His left hand is on his sword hilt, his right is upraised.
