Le piège was a vaudeville play by Théaulon de Lambert. This image was engraved by Maleuvre (1740-1803). The design appears to be part of a series of prints published by Martinet, Rue du Coq, of which this example is labelled as number 370. It is part of the Harry Beard Collection.

Physical description
This full length coloured engraving shows a woman dressed in the wide skirted, open fronted dress style of the mid to late 18th century. The overskirt and bodice of the dress are pink and the underskirt is yellow, both are decorated with pink bows and white frills. She wears a black fichu over his shoulders and black mittens. A high frilled bonnet, glasses and a silver topped cane grasped in her right hand complete the costume. She is shown hunched slightly forward, her left hand outstretched and her right grasping the cane.
