"D'un oeil indifferent, hélas! je les regarde,
Mais vous me les rendez mes enfans, je les garde
Et desormais je veux seul en régler l'emploi
Je demeurois chez vous, vous logerez chez moi" (Acte V, Scene dre.)

Les Deux Gendres, was a comedy in five acts by Charles Guillaume Etienne. It was first performed at the Théâtre Français 'par les Comédiens ordinaires de Sa Majesté l'Empereur et Roi, le 11 août 1810; et à Saint-Cloud devant Leurs Majestés Impériales et Royales, le 16 août de la même année.'

This full length coloured engraving shows a man dressed in a long olive coloured jacket over a white shirt with frilled cuffs and frilled centre front. He also wears a long blue waistcoat decorated with a motif in yellow over black knee breeches and blue stockings.
