La Chaumiere Moscovite was a vaudeville in one act, written by Marie-Joseph Pain and Dumersan. It was first performed at the Théâtre du Vaudeville on 8th August 1808.

This design appears to be part of a series of prints published by Martinet, Rue du Coq, of which this example is labelled as number 236. It is part of the Harry Beard Collection.

This full length coloured engraving shows a man dressed in a long scarlet coat trimmed with bands of yellow at the centre front. He also wears a black and yellow striped sash which matches the sleeves of his undertunic. His hat, outer coat and shoulders are also trimmed with bands of fur.
