"...Mon heure est arrivée frappe comte d'Axillos" (Acte 3, Scene der)
L'Hermite de la Siérra Moréna was a melodrama in three acts written by Mademoiselle Le Riche with music by M.Quaisain. The actor Joigny is recorded as performing the role of Dom Sanche d'Axillo, "cousin de D. Alphonse, caché sous un habit d'Hermite, au village de S. Estevan, de l'autre cóte de la Montagne".
The melodrama was first performed at the Théâtre Ambigu Comique on 5th April 1806.
This design appears to be part of a series of prints published by Martinet, Rue du Coq, of which this example is labelled as number 49. It is part of the Harry Beard Collection.
