La famille des innocens ou Comme l'amour vient was a comedy in one act described at the time as a 'mêlée de vaudevilles'. The text was written by René-André Chazet and Charles-Auguste de Bassompiere. It was first performed at the Theatre des Variétiés Montansier on 26th January 1807.
This design was created by Adrien Joly (1776-1839) and appears to be part of a series of prints published by Martinet, Rue du Coq, of which this example is labelled as number 75. It is part of the Harry Beard Collection.

They are all dressed in pale blue three-quarter length jackets with matching knee breeches. Each wears a cream waistcoat decorated with a repeated motif of crimson roses and has a spray of three white flowers, fastened with a pale blue bow, in his left hand buttonhole. They are shown in profile in a row, tricorn hats in hand. |
