Mr Vautour was written by the French composer, dramatist, and song-writer Marc-Antoine Madeleine Désaugiers (1772 -1827) in 1811. This design was created by Adrien Joly (1776-1839) and appears to be part of a series of prints published by Martinet, rue du Coq, of which this example is labelled No. 1.

The design is part of the Harry Beard Collection.

This full length coloured engraving shows a caricature of an actor dressed in a bright yellow jacket and breeches. The actor stands with his knees slightly bent, his arms outstretched. In his right hand he holds what appears to be a round, black hat.
