Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This particular bear is known as the "mouse-eared" bear. This is because the ears are quite wide apart and the face is quite wide. It was made by Dean's Rag Book Co Ltd in the 1930s. The company was founded by Henry Samuel Dean in 1903, as an off-shoot of the publishing company which specialised in children's books. It was originally set up to manufacture rag books and it was not until 1915 that the first teddy bears were introduced.
