A performance of this spectacular 'mélo-féerie' in two acts written by Simonnin, music arranged by Leblanc, was performed at the Gaité on 28th September 1811. The text was presumably inspired by the French fairytale of Riquet a la Houppe.

The design is part of the Harry Beard Collection.

A full length coloured lithograph of an actor dressed in a white double and hose, trimmed with stripes of blue at the neck, waist, shoulders and wrist. The actor stands with his feet apart, his right hand pointing and upraised and a blue cap, trimmed with a white feather held in his left.
