The text at the top of the print indicates that it is No.164 of a series. It appears to have been connected with a production at the Opéra-Comique.

The Guise ou les états de Blois was a comic opera. It appears that was composed by George Onslow (1784-1853) circa 1835, though it was first performed at the Opéra Comique, Paris, in 1837.

The print is part of the Harry Beard Collection.

Physical description
A full length pen and ink lithograph of a man in an Elizabethan inspired costume. The costume consists of a sleeved doublet and short hose, with the addition of a short cloak and a ruff at the neck. He is standing with his feet slightly apart, his left hand is by his side and his right is upraised, pointing into the distance.
