White earthenware, slip cast teapot and cover: U-shaped body, with strap handle and high, short down-curving pouring spout (both integrally cast with body) and low domed cover with button-shaped knob and ventilation hole. The shoulder and foot of the teapot, and the edge of the cover, have a very dark brown band (the 'Nightline' pattern) applied by automated process and not by hand.
