Place of origin |
Since graduating from the Royal College of Art, London, in 1991 Jacqueline Ryan (born 1966) has established an international reputation as an artist and goldsmith of great sensitivity. Based in Padua - a city known for its innovative work in gold - from 1992, then the Italian town Todi from 2001, her approach is allied to this modern Italian tradition while remaining distinctive and individual.
This ring is a fine illustration of the technically exacting nature of her work, with its many individual, moving elements all crafted by hand; and the beauty with which she brings such elements together. The balance she achieves within asymmetry, the repeated shapes, the combinations of colour and texture, and the kinetic elements are all typical features of her work.
