Object history
The series of engravings 'Marriage-à-la-Mode' were modelled on the original oil paintings by Hogarth (c.1743), currently in the National Portrait Gallery. The engravings reverse the compositions.
Production
It is understood that these plates were partly engraved by Hogarth.
