The front sheet is dominated by a full page illustration of the entrance to a workhouse. At the gate stand a line of people, their eyes downcast as if in shame. In the foreground is a richly dressed man in a bold red coat with lace trim at the wrist. He carries a metal stick in his right hand and a grey top hat in his left and his lavish attire presents a stark constrast to the shabby rags of those entering the workhouse.
The back sheet is printed with a list of Francis & Day's 'Successful Star Songs' its inner cover is printed with the lyrics for the song and music and words for the first verse and chorus.
