Bound sheet music for The Banners of Blue (A National Ballad) as sung by Madame Vestris at the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden. It was published by W.Wybrow, London.
The front sheet is decorated with a lithograph of the singer and actress Madame Vestris standing in the midst of a Highland landscape. Dressed in an ankle length gown with a flounced hem and puffed sleeves and an upstanding lace collar. She is also wearing a tartan cloak which fastens across her chest and a plumed feather headdress. Her right arm gestures to the castle, hills and waterfalls behind her, her left grasps a section of her cloak. A group of soldiers dressed in kilts, matching plumed hats and wielding swords, are visible to her right.
