Place of origin |
Bound sheet music for 'Weber's Der Freischutz, The Bridesmaid Song, published by Mayhew&Co, London.
The front sheet is decorated with a scene inside a stone pillared building within which stands a group of young women. Those on the left are dressed in short, puff sleeved dresses which are largely plain and finish in a shin length in a striped hem. They are carrying garlands of flowers, the girl at the front of this group is carrying a basket filled with flowers and holds a stem out towards the trio of women on the right. This trio are dressed in more ornate gowns which reach to the floor and have dark, front fastening bodices, with further decoration at the hem.
Each sheet (apart from the back cover) is printed with the parts for guitar and piano.
Der Freischütz (The Marksman) is an opera in three acts by Carl Maria von Weber to a libretto by Friedrich Kind. Its plot was taken from German folk legend and many of its tunes were inspired by German folk music.
