Illustrated song sheets and lyrics for Billy Barlow sung by the music hall star Sam Cowell (1820-1864).
The cover sheet has a central illustration of showing Sam Cowell in the character of Billy Barlow. He is dressed in ragged clothes and a battered hat, his jacket is fastened at the waist with a length of string. In the background are two scenes. That on the left is captioned 'The great bear in a fix' and shows a bear, dressed in a crown, running into a stone cave. The scene on the right is a group of stands within which sits a flag waving crowd and is captioned 'The Baby Show'. The inner sheets are printed with music and the final sheet has a set of lyrics.
