Sheet Music
circa 1842 (printed and published)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Bound songbook of six songs from Handel's Aris and Galatea. The cover illustration by John Brandard shows a lakeside scene with a view of a distant mountain. In front of the lake is clearing bordered by classical stone pillars. Groups of women in simple tunics are seated on the ground. A female dancer stands in the centre she is dressed in a shin length silk dress, her hair is loose and held back from her face by a floral headband. This cover illustration is one of 6. Each illustration accompanies a new song within the collection and has the title of the song, together with its singer recorded below it.

The music has been arranged for the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. A handwritten annotation on the front cover suggests that these illustrations which accompany the six songs records the scenes from Mcready's production at Drury Lane, February 1842.
