Nixie Clothing is a children's fashion label started up by designer, Nicole Frobusch, based in Hackney, East London. The company's ethos is to use vintage or sustainable fabrics, locally sourced where possible, in the production of beautiful garments for girls aged 1-12.
During the 2000s recycling and remaking clothing has become particularly visible perhaps because of awareness of global and eco concerns but also through a desire and popularity for bespoke and vintage clothing.

Brief description | Girl's dress made of vintage fabric in pink and cream patterned cotton and crepe materials, Nixie Clothing, London, England, 2007 |
Physical description | Light summer dress for a girl or about 7 years old. The dress is made up of three different types of fabric. The yoke of the dress is made from a cotton mix fabric with a brown ground and very small cream sprigs repeated over it. The sleeves are capped and float and cut to frill out over the top of the arm, leaving the bottom. The fabric of the sleeves is a bright pink polyester / chiffon with repeating circles of pale pink dots. The fabric also makes up a frilled hem of 11cm to the bottom of the garment. The main body of the dress is made up of a crinkled crepe material in a pale pink. It has a loose a-line shape with some small gathered pleats at the front and the back centres of the dress that attach to the yoke and hang above what would be the bust line. The neckline to the brown fabric is finished off with the pale pink trim / hem with a button fastening at the back of the neck. The dress has a Nixie Clothing label, pale blue with gold stitched butterfly and words on the inside back of neck. |
