Two Step is a strategy game whereby you must move your pawns to your opponents territory before they move all their pawns to your territory. It is also considered a co-operative game, which encourages teamwork, creative thinking and problem solving. It was made by Harmony Games, who began producing games in 1984, based in Stroud in Gloucestershire.
This game was previously owned by Bob Dixon, along with similar types of games. Robert Turnbull Dixon was a poet, author and peace activist. He grew up in County Durham and was very interested in assessing what affects and influences young people as they grow up. These types of games are valuable as we do not have anything like this within our collection, and they were an important part of the research for the books he wrote.

| Physical description | Two Step has three rectangular wooden boards. One is slightly larger than the other two but they all have either a red or black grid drawn on them consisting of 28 squares. With these boards there are many playing pieces. Some are plastic and some are wooden but they are all brightly coloured in yellow, green, red and blue. The game also comes with many instruction leaflets which vary in size. One set containing 'Questions People Ask' is long and thing, whilst 'The Laws of Two-Step' are smaller A5 bits of paper folded in half. All the instructions are printed with a black font possibly using a typewriter. |

| Object history | This game was given to the museum along with other games by Ann Garret in 2009. They belonged to Bob Dixon, the well known poet, author and peace activist. He was born on 29th November 1931 and died on the 4th October 2008. Publications by him included 'Catching Them Young', 'Now Read On', 'Agitpoems', 'Playing Them False', 'More Agitation', 'Make Capitalism History' and 'The Wrong'. |
