This jigsaw, called 'Dalmation', was sold by Paul and Marjorie Abbatt Ltd. as part of their range of jigsaw puzzles. It first appeared in their catalogue in 1962, and was designed by Freda Skinner, one of the first designers employed by the Abbatts when they started selling toys in 1932. The Abbatts had a reputation as pioneers and promoters of well-designed toys. This jigsaw was bought from their toyshop in Wimpole Steeet, London, by one of the donors for his children in the mid-1960's.

Physical description
A wooden jigsaw puzzle depicting a black and white spotted dog with red collar playing with red ball. The background is of the sky and dark green hills with lighter grass in the foreground. The puzzle is made from two layers of wood. The upper layer has been painted and machine cut to form the loose puzzle pieces, which form the image of the dog, and surround, which has been glued onto the unpainted base.

This puzzle was designed by Freda Skinner for Paul and Marjorie Abbatt Ltd. It was sold by the Abbatts as one of their range of jigsaw puzzles, first introduced into the range in 1962. It was bought from the Abbatts' toy shop at 94 Wimpole Street, London, by the donors for their children in the mid 1960's.
