Taken from a set of illustrations from the designs of Leon Bakst for The Sleeping Princess which were originally published by Ben Brothers in 1923, this illustration is labelled 'Planche LI: Le Prince Charmant (Chasse)'. The image shows the prince dressed in a red, full skirted coat trimmed with gold braid, which fastens diagonally across his front. The coat has wide, turned back cuffs which are brown and decorated with silver. He is also dressed in dark brown, knee high boots with silver buckles and loose pale brown breeches with red and white trim at the knee. He is wearing white gloves, with black stripes, a wide brimmed, stiff, black hat and leaning against a long shot gun in his right hand. Harry Beard Collection.
Only 1000 copies of the original, limited edition, book were published by Benn Brothers.
