Taken from a set of illustrations from the designs of Leon Bakst for The Sleeping Princess which were originally published by Ben Brothers in 1923, this illustration is labelled 'Planche IX: 'Le Page de la Fée Cerise'. It shows a figure in a wide skirted, white and gold dress decorated with garlands of dark green leaves and scarlet berries and printed or painted with floral motifs. The dress ends above the knee and the dancer wears gold shoes fastening with crossed ribbons which extend up to the shin and are decorated with a spray of green leaves and red berries. The dancer also wears a white curling wig and a headdress made from the same leaves and berries which have been used to decorate their dress. They are standing with arms outstretched and their front foot pointed. Harry Beard Collection.

Only 1000 copies of the original, limited edition, book were published by Benn Brothers.

The Diaghilev production of this ballet was stage at the Alhambra Theatre in 1921.
