Artist/Maker

A double sided sheet of music, entitled The Redowa and Polish Polkas as performed at Her Majesties Theatre. Above the staves of music there is an etching of two dancers. The male and female couple are hand in hand, wearing Polish traditional dress. Both wear similar stiff, square brimmed hats, set on the diagonal (possibly Krakowiak, or Rogatywka, hats). Their clothes and boots are trimmed with fur. The woman is wearing a three quarterlength, front fastening cloak over a wide skirted dress with short, fur trimmed ankle length boots. Her male partner dressed in stout thigh length boots, wide breeches and a fur trimmed three quarter length jacket under a short cape. It is possible this piece was originally part of a longer publication entitled The Musical Bouquet.
