Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
This prototype chair was made quite late in the design process, as it is very similar to a production version of the chair also in the collection. The materials and overall shape of the chair are fixed, as is the broad shield shape of the backrest and the floor level stretchers. Pencil marks on the chair show minor adjustments that Matthew Hilton wanted to make to the chair before it went into production. The chair was made by Montina in Italy and sent to the designer in England to make his adjustments.
