Märta Måås Fjetterström (1873-1941) was one of Sweden's most prominent textile artists of the 20th century. Her designs were strongly influenced by Swedish textile traditions, in particular folk textiles from Scania (Skåne). The wall hanging shown here is called 'Yellow Stripe' (Gul Rand), with a geometric design in red and blue. It is made of natural linen and vegetable dyed coloured wools and was hand-woven in Fjetterström's workshop in Båstad.

Märta Måås Fjetterström's wall hangings are designed and woven to allow light to pass through. This is achieved by weavign the motif into a gournd of thin handspun linen. As such the hangings also function as a room divider.
