Vera Wang (b.1949)
USA, Spring 2007 bridal collection
Flip flops: Abercrombie & Fitch

American designer Vera Wang founded her bridal wear company in 1990. She offered women ready-made and custom-made dresses that fused tradition with contemporary fashion. New Yorker Katie Turner's trained gown is unmistakably a wedding dress, but the applied silk flowers and delicate weave decoration on the bodice reflect the fashions for 2007.

Dress: tissue organza and satin-faced organza

Object history
Worn with a Vera Wang gown by Katie Bella Turner on the occasion of her marriage to Andrew Robert Hayward on Sunday 26 August, 2007, at the Old Field Club, Setauket, New York. The dress was originally worn on the Vera Wang catwalk show, and slightly modified (by the addition of shoulder straps and draped organza cap-sleeves) for the bride.
