This certificate was designed by Sir Edward John Poynter and engraved by the Dalziel Brothers. The certificate is decorated with objects symbolic of shipbuilding and marine engineering, such as anchors, chains and a propeller. The figures on either side of the certificate signify Labour and Science. The School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering was formerly located at the Museum’s premises.
