Action Man was a doll for boys first launched in the United States as GI Joe. The English version was made by the Palitoy Company from 1966. Action Man started off as a military man - army, navy and air force and had many different outfits to change into. In the 1970s he had a range of vehicles and accessories including a tank, helicopter, jeep, motor cycle and this space capsule. He also had a range of non-military outfits and featured as a sportsman, adventurer and Space Ranger.
In 1984 the Palitoy Company went under but in 1993 Action Man was back on the market, this time made by Hasbro. He is now an all round action figure.
