Brief description | Cot for travelling, ca.1900, English, by Benjamin Edgington |
Physical description | Canvas rectangular travelling cot with a wooden frame |
Object history | This child's travelling bed or cot was made by the firm of Benjamin Edginton, whose name is stamped on the brass eyelets and stencilled in blue on the canvas. The cot was marketed by the firm as ‘The Shakespeare cot’ and is illustrated in the catalogue of the Army & Navy stores in 1905. This appears to be the largest (No. 1) size, priced at 32/9 in plain canvas (39/6 in fancy canvas). |
