Striker

Table Football Game
1970-1971 (manufactured)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

The Striker series of football games were produced during the 1970s and early 1980s as a rival to Subbuteo but aimed at a younger age group. The original owner of this game, Keith Ball thinks he was given this game because his friend Joe Bird had a Subbuteo set that he enjoyed playing. This complete boxed set is one of the very earliest examples of the first game produced in England. It was made by the Parker Games division of the Palitoy Company in the early 1970s and we know that it was given to Keith by his parents as a Christmas present, probably in 1971. There was a World Cup version brought out in 1974. Palitoy later went on the manufacture other sets including the Super Striker series.

Object history
Originally owned by Keith Ball (B.28/05/1963) who was given the game as a Christmas present, probably in 1971, by his parents, Alan and Enid Ball. Keith grew up in Tadley in Hampshire and remembers playing this game with his friends Andrew Crook, Kevin O'Malley and Paul Bateman on the kitchen table. The game itself moved around a bit as it was a bit too big for the table. Keith thinks he was given this game because his friend Joe Bird had a Subbuteo set that he enjoyed playing.
