Object history | A pattern in two parts made of lead, early 18th century, which is closely similar to this case, is in a collection of about 3000 models and patterns donated in 1871to the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum, Munich. The collection included 'the stock of an Augsburg goldsmith studion, which also included parts of a jewellery and base metal workshop' (Seelig, 1991, pp. 25-27). Crowned heart lockets of similar type were made in the late 19th century, sometimes described as vesta cases. |
